Sophie Bukovec
Professional Beach Volleyball Player
Sophie Bukovec grew up in Toronto, ON in a competitive family with three older siblings. Being introduced to indoor volleyball later in her adolescence, she quickly fell in love with the sport and was recruited for top NCAA schools.
Playing beach volleyball throughout the Canadian summers, Sophie was selected for the Youth World Champs for beach. When she won the U21 World Champs, she realized her future was on the sand. She went on to play beach volleyball at McMaster, Long Beach State, then transferred to the University of Southern California where she was a crucial part of the team earning 3 National Championship Titles, 2 Pacific 12 Championships, and became a 2X All American athlete.
Sophie has also successfully built a volleyball coaching business, The Northern Elite Volleyball Academy, focusing on elite youth players pursuing their dreams of scholarships and playing professionally.
Her first year on the world tour, Sophie caught the attention of the volley ball world bringing home silver from the World Beach Volleyball Championships.
Sophie sees nothing stopping her to win an Olympic medal in what will hopefully be her first Olympic appearance for Canada in the next Summer Olympic Games in Paris 2024. She's ready for any challenge that presents itself along the way.
